Dr Isabella Hawke

Has been a doctor at the Goulburn Medical Clinic since 2001. She runs women’s health clinics on a Tuesday morning. She has remained one of the most popular female GP’s in Goulburn over that time. Dr Hawke is also the senior lecturer at the ANU rural clinical school and will often have a medical student sit in during her consults. She also oversees some of the training of our registrars. “The aim of this rural exposure is to encourage students to consider rural medical practice after graduation. There is no doubt that a ‘local’ medical school such as the ANU will also encourage doctors to come and stay in our district after graduation. These measures are designed to alleviate the rural doctor shortage and increase the numbers of general practitioners and specialists who choose to work in Goulburn.” Dr Hawke says.
