Dr Isabella Hawke
B.Med, Hon FRACGP
Dr Hawke has been a doctor at the Goulburn Medical Clinic since 2001, and has remained one of the most popular female GP’s in Goulburn over that time. She runs a women’s health clinic of a Tuesday morning, and is also the senior lecturer at the ANU rural clinical school. Dr Hawke will often have a medical student sit in during her consults, and she also oversees some of the training of our registrars. “The aim of this rural exposure is to encourage students to consider rural medical practice after graduation. There is no doubt that a ‘local’ medical school such as the ANU will also encourage doctors to come and stay in our district after graduation. These measures are designed to alleviate the rural doctor shortage and increase the numbers of general practitioners and specialists who choose to work in Goulburn.” Dr Hawke says.
